The Best of the Blog 2025 — A Year in Review

Written by Chadd Arthur | Dec 18, 2025 5:48:50 PM

From forward-looking trend analyses to powerful case studies and thought-provoking conversations, the enSYNC blog featured a host of great content in 2025. Here’s a curated look at the top themes and must-read pieces from this year.

Embracing Technology & Financial Transparency

One of the most consistent themes in 2025 was how organizations are leveraging technology to strengthen financial transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency. We covered this in great depth this year, specifically focused on articles meant to help organizations recognize opportunities and migrate with ease.

In “How Sage Intacct Transforms Nonprofit Financial Management: A Complete Guide”, we outline how newer software, like Sage Intacct, helps nonprofits manage the complexity of multiple funding sources, grants, donor restrictions, and compliance requirements — all while automating workflows to free up staff time for mission-driven work.

Our own Janet Davidson, President of enSYNC, shares: “Over the years, I’ve worked with nonprofits of all sizes and missions — from newly formed grassroots organizations to long-established national associations. Their goals might differ, but the financial challenges they face are remarkably similar. What’s often overlooked, though, is how significantly the right technology can help overcome these obstacles.”

In the post we also explore real world technology transformations. For example, the Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB), a nonprofit that provides healthcare and social services to urban American Indians and Alaskan Natives in the greater Seattle area, shows just how effective the right technology can be. After SIHB implemented Sage Intacct, the organization saw some incredible benefits, including:

  • Quarterly reports are generated in 40 minutes instead of up to three days.
  • The monthly close cycle decreased from two months to three weeks.
  • SIHB boosted revenue by 80%.
  • The finance team’s productivity increased by 50%, with an across-the-board efficiency gain of more than 25%.

If you’ve been stuck in discovery mode on new technology, check out our posts focused on the importance of finding the right technology and migration:

Taken together, these pieces reflect a growing recognition: good software isn’t a luxury — it's essential infrastructure for nonprofits that want to be transparent, compliant, and scalable.

Strategic Planning & Sustainable Growth

Another area we focused on in 2025 was sustainability, primarily financial, organizational and strategic sustainability. While sustainability has always been important, going into 2026 it’s absolutely essential.

Our “Guide to Nonprofit Association Financial Sustainability” is a great place to review best practices to remain resilient in uncertain times. Learn how sufficient reserves help associations:

  • Prevent budget cuts when addressing drops in revenue or unexpected expenses
  • Fund new programs before they are financially sustainable
  • Provide funding for one-off projects

“By taking the time for thoughtful strategic planning, which includes budgeting and forecasting for unexpected variables, an association can be sure they are working toward their goals and maintaining financial stability for the organization,” Chadd Arthur, Vice President, enSYNC, said in the article. “We typically recommend nonprofit associations maintain a flexible one-year plan to stay on track.”

As nonprofits face demographic shifts, rising costs, and workforce challenges, adaptability and strategic investment become non-negotiable for future success. That’s a concept discussed in “Looking Ahead in 2025: Key Trends Shaping Senior Living and Nonprofits,” with much of that 2025 advice still applicable to next year.

We explore those ideas in even more depth in the article “How Sage Intacct Transforms Nonprofit Financial Management: A Complete Guide.” In addition to highlighting common financial challenges, we  also cover:

  • Fund accounting and grant management
  • Automated financial reporting and compliance
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Donor and revenue recognition

After all, in Sage’s 2024 Nonprofit Technology Trends Survey, automating financial reporting was the No. 1 functionality nonprofits were prioritizing in their technology investments.

Real Stories of Transformation: Learning from Others

Of course, it’s all good and well to talk about the theoretical impacts of implementing technology changes. But the most impactful stories often come from people in the trenches. In February, for instance, we published “Bay County Medical Care Facility Improved Reporting Accuracy by 70% with Sage Intacct,” an example case study showing how proper tools and guidance can transform operations for a senior-care provider operating under tight constraints.

In that same vein, we launched our new interview series, “Sounding Off.” The most recent episode, “Sounding Off with Mandy Lynch: Real Talk on Culture, Care, and Change in Senior Living,” features Mandy Lynch, MHA, HFA, President and CEO of Providence Healthcare in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. In the wide-ranging interview, Lynch reflects on leadership, culture-building, and the role of technology in delivering compassionate senior care.

As Lynch highlights in the interview, Providence Healthcare was founded for the Sisters of Providence, a group of Catholic women who knew they would need a place for health care as they aged. “Financial wellness for us means sustainability,” Lynch says in the interview. “Since the sisters created this nursing home, they know there’s going to come a day when there are no sisters left, and they want to leave a legacy of compassionate care to the public and serve the underserved.”

Like the Bay County facility, Providence Healthcare’s ability to improve its finances directly impacts its ability to better care for patients.

A Look at What’s Ahead

Together, these articles paint a picture of where organizations’ priorities lie going into 2026 – a shift toward intentional, data-driven, and mission-aligned strategies. Whether it’s modernizing financial systems, adopting smarter engagement platforms, or rethinking leadership and culture, organizations are investing in infrastructure that supports growth, sustainability, and impact.

There are plenty of reasons for that optimism to carry into 2026. After all, with the right systems and planning, organizations can be more resilient, more effective, and better equipped to fulfill their missions.
