KidsCare replaced QuickBooks with Sage Intacct and reduced month-end close by an estimated 10 to 20 hours through a partner-led implementation with enSYNC.

Headshot of Ty Kozinski

“What you need is a partner like enSYNC. enSYNC took the time to understand my business. They’ll take the time to understand your business. That will pay dividends. A partner like enSYNC is invaluable.”

— Ty Kozinski, former Vice President of Finance at KidsCare Home Health

A Pediatric Home Health Agency Built for One-on-One Care

KidsCare Home Health has been serving children with special needs since it was founded in 2003. Initially, the agency provided quality pediatric home health care to the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex. The agency has since expanded across Texas, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon.

KidsCare Home Health focuses on speech, physical and occupational therapies, nursing, and case management services. Speech therapist Cortney Baker founded the agency believing that therapy is most effective when conducted one-on-one in a familiar environment that includes family members and caregivers. Despite the agency’s growth, that belief hasn’t changed.

The Challenge

Most successful businesses experience growing pains, and KidsCare Home Health is no exception. As they expanded across geographical boundaries to include hundreds of staff members and patients, they started to outgrow several of their systems, including their accounting system.

Former Vice President of Finance Ty Kozinski pointed out that the agency had been using QuickBooks. “It couldn't handle the complexity of the things that we're going through. We needed an accounting system that would meet our needs now and that we could grow into, because we're going to continue to expand and grow in the future.”

If KidsCare continued using QuickBooks, Kozinski determined they would need to hire at least three more accountants to handle manual entry. Even if they added the additional staff, they still lacked software functionality the organization needed.

The enSYNC Approach

During his research, Kozinski kept landing on Sage Intacct as the software that best fit their accounting system needs. Referrals and research pointed him to enSYNC as the best partner to install and implement the solution.

Since Sage Intacct is a cloud-based system and KidsCare Home Health was already utilizing cloud services, there was no need for new equipment purchases. The migration was simple and straightforward. Installation was handled by the enSYNC team working closely with the KidsCare team to make sure all of his questions were answered, and accounting needs were met.

What Changed

  • A system built for complexity. KidsCare moved from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct so the accounting system could meet their needs now and support future growth.
  • Less manual entry, less added headcount. The team avoided the need to hire at least three more accountants to keep up with manual processes.
  • A partner-led implementation. The enSYNC team worked closely with the KidsCare team to answer questions, support discovery and implementation, and ensure accounting needs were met.

“Without a partner like enSYNC, you're just going to get a canned software that may or may not apply to you. But having somebody who took the time, somebody who was diligent in discovery and implementation, made it really beneficial.”

— Ty Kozinski, former Vice President of Finance at KidsCare Home Health

Results That Show Up Every Month

That partnership increased efficiency for the accounting department at KidsCare Home Health by knocking an estimated 10 to 20 hours off each month’s end close. Kozinski said their closing process was already fairly concise, but it is now even simpler. He is also very pleased with the new reporting capabilities of the software.

These capabilities have allowed Kozinski to send financial packets and reports to KidsCare Home Health owners and executives more quickly and efficiently.
